According to Hindu Mythology, the first avatar of Lord Vishnu was the fish. The legend goes that the king Satyavratam, found a little fish in the river while bathing (some sources mention Manu, the first man). He brought it home in a small pot to protect it from the larger sea-creatures. But soon the fish grew to fill up whichever container it was kept in, until Manu released it in a pond, and then a lake. Even there, the fish grew to be the size of the pond and the lake and finally the ocean. Later in the story, when the earth is flooding and all lives are in danger, the fish would be instrumental in guiding Manu , his wife and the sages across the ocean and helping them restart civilisation.
That is how an idea grows.
From a neuroscience perspective, an idea is a new pattern recognised by the brain. Initially this new idea is frail, and very easily broken by other more well-established ideas and preconceived notions. But if you can pick it up and nurture it, it can grow and take any shape and size. The only true limitation to what an idea can become is the size of the container you keep it in. And if you let it grow big enough, an idea has the potential to change your life.
So think big.
Cheers and love,
Sid.
